PRIVACY POLICY

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Black Lightning Inc. (“we”, “us”) collects through https://blacklightning-games.com, why we collect it, and what we do with it. It forms part of our Terms & Conditions.

Information we collect

• Account details: your email address, username, and password. Passwords are stored only as a salted cryptographic hash — we never store or see your actual password.
• Discord username: optional, and only if you provide it, so we can grant your membership role in our Discord.
• Membership details: your access tier, payment status, subscription identifier, and the dates of your last and next payments.
• Support messages: anything you send us by email or through our report form.
• Technical data: your IP address and browser user-agent, recorded with your login sessions for security and abuse prevention.

What we do NOT collect

We never receive or store your card number or full payment details. Card payments are tokenized in your browser and processed by Authorize.net on their own systems; PayPal payments are processed by PayPal. We only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, the amount, and a subscription reference.

How we use your information

• To create and operate your account and to log you in.
• To provide the content and membership tier you have paid for.
• To take payment, issue receipts, and manage renewals and cancellations.
• To respond to your support requests and issue reports.
• To keep the Service secure — detecting abuse, rate-limiting, and preventing fraud.
• To meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Legal bases (for EEA/UK users)

We process your data to perform our contract with you (providing the Service), to comply with legal obligations (such as tax records), and for our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, and improving the Service). Where we rely on consent — such as optional Discord details — you may withdraw it at any time.

Cookies

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies only. A session cookie keeps you logged in, and a cart cookie remembers the membership you selected. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Who we share it with

We share data only with the service providers needed to run the Service:

• Authorize.net and Zen Payments — card payment processing and recurring billing (your card details go directly to them and are handled under their own privacy policies).
• PayPal — payment processing, subscriptions, and refunds (they handle your payment details under their own privacy policy).
• Netlify — website and application hosting.
• Neon — the database that stores your account record.
• Our email provider — to deliver receipts and account emails.

We may also disclose information where required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.

International transfers

Our providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we remove your personal details, except records we must retain for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention reasons (for example, transaction records, typically for up to 7 years). Login session records are short-lived and expire automatically.

Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information and will notify you of a breach where legally required.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to it. You can view and edit your details yourself at any time on your account page. To make any other request, email Blacklightninggames@protonmail.com and we will respond within the time your law requires (usually 30 days).

Children

The Service is strictly for adults aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn we have, we will delete the account and its data. If you believe a minor has registered, contact us immediately.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy; the “last updated” date above will change, and we will notify you of material changes on the Service.
